New Delhi, July 31 — The early morning silence in Delhi was broken not by alarms, but by the soft patter of rain tapping on rooftops. For many residents, it was a refreshing start—cooler air, damp streets, and the scent of wet earth hanging heavy in the breeze.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed what Delhiites had already sensed: the rain is here to stay, at least for a few more days. According to the latest forecast, light to moderate rain will continue to drape the capital till August 3, with no weather warning issued for now.

Throughout the night, clouds rolled quietly across the sky, shedding intermittent showers across various parts of the city. By 6:30 am Thursday, Central Delhi’s Pusa station had recorded 40 mm of rain, with similar figures reported from other parts: 38 mm at the Sports Complex, 34 mm at Safdarjung, and more modest amounts in Ayanagar and Lodhi Road.

Despite the rainfall, the city seems to be breathing a little easier. The minimum temperature dipped to 24.7°C, about 1.1 degrees below normal, providing welcome respite from the muggy heat that had lingered through much of July.
