Over the past few weeks, the serene hills of Himachal Pradesh have transformed into a battleground between man and nature. What began as the welcome early arrival of the monsoon has turned into an unrelenting nightmare. Since June, over 170 people have died, with 74 deaths in just the past two weeks due to flash floods, landslides, and cloudbursts. Entire families have been lost, including three members of one household in Mandi.
Major roads like the Chandigarh–Manali highway are blocked, and many villages are cut off. Electricity and water supplies are disrupted, and rescue operations are underway across the state.
The weather department has issued red alerts for Kangra, Sirmaur, and Mandi, and orange alerts in several other districts for the weekend.
As Himachal battles this crisis, local communities and emergency teams are working around the clock to save lives. Stay safe, stay informed—and if you can, support relief efforts.
