The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a fresh spell of widespread rainfall across several northern and northeastern states of India between August 9 and August 14, 2025.

The department warns of possible very heavy downpours in multiple hilly regions and plains, urging the public to remain alert for weather-related disruptions.
Northwest India – Strong Monsoon Activity Ahead
According to the forecast, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand will see isolated heavy showers almost every day during this period. Specific alerts include:
- Punjab: Rainfall expected on August 10.
- Haryana and Chandigarh: Heavy rain possible on August 11 and August 13.
- Uttar Pradesh: Rain likely on August 9, and again from August 12 to August 14.
The IMD notes that very heavy rainfall could occur in Jammu & Kashmir on August 13 and 14, in Himachal Pradesh from August 11 to 14, and in Uttarakhand on August 10, 11, 13, and 14. West Uttar Pradesh may get intense showers on August 13 and 14, while East Uttar Pradesh could see heavy rain on August 12 and 13.
Northeast India – Persistent Showers with Isolated Heavy Falls
In the northeastern states, light to moderate rainfall is expected in many areas along with thunderstorms and lightning. Rain is likely in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya from August 9 to 14. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may see rain on August 9 and again during August 12–14.
Very heavy rain is possible in Arunachal Pradesh on August 9 and 10, and in Assam and Meghalaya on August 11 and 12.
