In Jammu Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Jammu and adjoining districts, warning of moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by the risk of cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides. The alert remains in effect until September 3, 12:00 PM IST.

According to the advisory, districts likely to be impacted include Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi, Doda, Ramban, Kishtwar, Samba, and Udhampur. Authorities have highlighted the potential for sudden water surges, road blockages, and disruption of essential services in vulnerable areas

In addition to the rainfall warning, IMD has highlighted a moderate to high flood risk, particularly in low-lying areas and hilly terrains. The Jammu–Srinagar highway and other mountain corridors may face traffic interruptions due to landslides or inundation.

With saturated soil and continuous rainfall over the past few days, the likelihood of landslides and flash floods has increased significantly. Authorities have also declared a red alert for the next 48 hours, signaling heightened risk across Jammu and Kashmir.
