
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Jammu and nearby regions from August 23 to 26, 2025, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
- August 23–24: IMD forecasts heavy showers with chances of thunderstorms and squalls, which may cause localized flooding, waterlogging, and travel delays.
- August 25–26: The region will continue to see rain and thunder activity, though rainfall intensity is likely to reduce slightly. Lightning and strong winds remain possible.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has also confirmed light to moderate rain/thundershowers across Jammu during this spell.

Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious, avoid flood-prone zones, and follow official updates. Travelers, especially in hilly areas, should check conditions before heading out, as landslides and waterlogging are possible.
