Jammu, Sept 5 — Landslides and road collapses have shut down the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway, Mughal Road, Sinthan–Anantnag route, Jammu–Poonch highway, and the Batote–Doda–Kishtwar corridor. These closures have completely cut off surface connectivity to the Kashmir Valley. Officials confirmed the disruption and urged travelers to avoid the region.

Highway Disruptions Worsen Across Jammu Region

The Chenani–Bhaderwah route remains blocked due to unstable terrain and active slope failures. Meanwhile, landslides in Pul Doda have shut the Batote–Doda–Kishtwar Highway, stranding over 200 vehicles. Additionally, the Jammu–Rajouri–Poonch Highway is closed at Chowki Choura near the Kandi Tunnel, cutting off access to western districts and affecting more than 400 vehicles.

Kashmir Access Severely Limited

Officials report closures on Mughal Road, Sinthan–Anantnag, and Kishtwar–Sinthan Pass due to shooting stones and debris. With all major highways blocked, only Srinagar Airport and the Katra railway line remain operational—offering limited relief.

Restoration Underway; Travel Restrictions Remain

BRO and NDRF teams are working on a war footing across affected zones. Authorities urge commuters from Katra and Udhampur to carry valid photo ID for smoother movement. Meanwhile, inter-district roads in Kathua, Rajouri, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, and Reasi remain closed due to falling boulders and unstable slopes.
